Information for Residents
Program check-in
Sunday, June 16
- 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Resident Registration and Residence Hall Check-In at Roskie Residence Hall
- 7:00 p.m. Mandatory Orientation for all parents and participants in Gaines Hall, Room 101
- 7:30 p.m. Campus Tour – all are welcome
- Ice Cream Social – all are welcome
- 8:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. Commuter Pick-up at Roskie Residence Hall
NOTE: Dinner will not be served on Sunday night; please eat before you arrive.
Campus boundaries/curfews
- Participants are required to stay on campus at all times unless they are with a Peaks class.
- There will be a curfew and bed check each night at 9:30 p.m.
- Counselors and the Camp Director will stay on the same residentce hall floors as the participants.
- At check-in, participants will receive a room key from the residence hall front desk.
- A $75 fee for lost keys and $25 for damaged keys will be billed to parents at check out.
Residence hall amenities
- The residence hall provides bed linens, pillows, blankets, and towels.
- Towels may be exchanged daily at the main desk.
- Telephone is available at the front desk.
- Long-distance calls from the front desk require a calling card or collect calls.
- A limited supply of fans are available for rent at the front desk (first come, first served).
- A limited number of mini fridges are available for a fee at the front desk (it may take 24 hours to receive one in the room, first come, first served).
- Hall desks are open 23 hours daily and are closed from noon to 1:00 p.m. daily.
Meals
- Residents will eat all meals in the Rendezvous Dining Pavilion.
Items to bring
- Backpack and water bottle (participants will receive a P&P cinch pack and water bottle)
- Clothing
- Closed-toe street tennis shoes (or other closed-toe shoes) for all classes. Open-toed shoes/sandals are not permitted in the MSU laboratories and aren’t suitable for gym activities.
- Sandals are permitted outside, but flip-flops can only be used in the showers.
- Closed-toe tennis shoes are required for all workshops with a field trip.
- Alarm clock (optional; counselors will wake students up each morning)
- Blanket (optional; only needed if you like being extra warm at night)
- Small fan (optional; limited supply available at the residence hall front desk, first come-first served basis)
- Specific snacks (snacks may be provided in the evening before bed)
- Rain jacket and/or umbrella
- Warm jacket
- Sandals for the showers
- Sunscreen
- A small amount of spending money for snacks, etc. (optional and no more than $25)
Items to leave at home
- Your valuables! MSU is not responsible for the safety or loss of personal items.
- Skateboards, bikes, and scooters – these items are not allowed.
- No electronic devices (new policy) unless pre-approved by camp staff.
