MSU has partnered with Canvas Credentials to provide digital badges for both online and in-person experiences.  These badges will award achievement in select MSU courses and learning opportunities.

Badges (sometimes called digital or open badges) are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification or learning outcome which can be verified online in real-time.

Here are samples of MSU badge visuals:

Badges:

  • give you a way to share your skills online  that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real-time.
  • provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of.

Upon successful completion of an online badge-earning course:

  • Visit the Credentials link in your Canvas course.
  • Optional: You may also choose to download or print a customized certificate to accompany your digital badge.

Upon successful completion of an in-person learning opportunity:

  • You’ll receive an email inviting you to claim your badge.
  • Click the link in the email to create a Badgr account and claim your badge.

You can share your badge:

  • through email
  • through supported social media sites (such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook)
  • embedded in a website
  • in your email signature

Yes! Once you've opened your badge, either through email or the Credentials link in your Canvas Course, you can download or print a copy of your badge certificate.
