Course Pricing and Refunds

Course Pricing

Course and program prices vary. Full payment for courses/programs is typically due at the time of registration; however, some may require a deposit with the balance to be paid before the program begins.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

In accordance with the Montana University System (MUS) Board of Regents policy, ATO non-credit courses and programs do not qualify for veteran/faculty/staff fee waivers. Financial aid is not currently available for non-credit courses. However, OLLI offers a limited number of scholarships, and various non-credit courses may offer scholarships or discounts which will be indicated in course descriptions.

Refunds and Cancellations

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) Programs and Memberships

There is a minimum $25 processing fee for all cancellations made before a program begins.

There will be no refunds for cancellations made seven (7) days or less before program start date or after a program begins. Please note, some programs may have special refund policies, which will be mentioned in the specific program description details.

There are no refunds for annual OLLI at MSU memberships.

OLLI at MSU reserves the right to cancel courses due to minimum enrollment or other circumstances, in which case related fees will be refunded.

If inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances force OLLI to cancel a class or program, OLLI will aim to send a notification email at least an hour before your program time. Phone calls will not be made.

Non-Credit, Continuing Education and Academic Credit Courses

Students who cancel before a course or program begins will be charged a minimum processing fee of $25. There will be no refunds after the course or program begins. No refunds will be given for self-paced courses. Refunds on course material fees vary by program.

Exceptions:

    • Youth programs have special refund policies. Please check the program descriptions for more information.
    • ATO will abide by MSU policy regarding students who are called to military and/or emergency service. Under extraordinary circumstances and with appropriate documentation, ATO will refund 100% tuition and/or fees to learners who are delayed or disrupted from completing courses as scheduled due to official/emergency duties.

Minimum and Maximum Enrollment

Some courses and programs are offered contingent on enrolling a minimum number of learners. If minimum enrollment is not met, the course may be canceled, in which case registration and additional enrollment fees will be fully refunded. In other cases, enrollment may be limited to a maximum, with enrollment processed on a first come/first served basis.

Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Unit (CEU) offerings vary by course or program. When offered, some courses may include CEUs in the course registration fees while others may provide CEUs as optional. A flat fee of $25, regardless of the number of CEUs awarded, is due at the time of registration and is not refundable unless the course is canceled. All CEUs are general Continuing Education Units from MSU. Please check with your professional association to see if the provided CEU will be accepted.

Academic Credit Courses

588-rubric Courses

A 588-rubric course fulfills professional development needs of in-service educators. However, you should always check with your school district before registering to ensure the course will fulfill all requirements.

Credit from 588 courses MAY NOT be used towards a degree program at MSU.

Registration and Payment

Formal admission to MSU is not required to enroll in a 588-rubric course. Full payment is required at the time of registration. MUS tuition and fee waivers do not qualify for 588 academic credit courses. If you are enrolled in other academic credit courses, you must pay the full registration fee, even if you have reached the university's tuition cap.

Drops, Refunds, and Grades

Students wishing to drop a 588-rubric course should email ContinuingEd@montana.edu. There are no refunds for dropping after the course begins.

Grades will be posted on an official MSU transcript. Request an official copy of your transcript.
