Weight Your Gradebook
Weighting Your Gradebook with Assignment Groups
You can weigh final grades based on assignment groups. Selecting this option assigns a weight to each assignment group instead of the assignments themselves. Within each assignment group, a percentage is calculated by dividing the total points a student has earned by the total points possible for all assignments in that group.
1. Select the Assignments link from the course navigation menu to access your assignments page. Here, you will find all the activities for your course organized by “group type.”
2. Select the + Group button in the top right to create a new Assignment Group. You'll need to repeat this step until you have created all the necessary course assignment groups.
3. Enter a name for the Assignment Group you're creating, then click Save.
4. Select the three dots in the top right corner and click on Assignment Groups Weight from the drop-down menu.
5. Check the box for Weight final grade based on assignment groups. The various assignment groups will appear once the box is checked, and you can enter a percentage for each.
6. Click Save to keep your selections. The weights of each group will then appear on the Assignments page.
7.You can move items around and place them into their correct Assignment Group by selecting the three dots directly to the right of an item and then selecting Move to...
8. Select the dropdown arrow under Assignment Group to select where you would like to move the activity into. Then select the dropdown arrow under Place "[group]" to determine where within the group you'd like it.
9. Finally, select Move to complete the process and save your change.
