During the migration of your course content from Brightspace D2L to Canvas, some content may not transfer as expected. After the import, you will get a report of "issues" resulting from the import. Use the tutorial below to address these "issues."  Next, review the table and checklist below to identify other areas that may require adjustment before finalizing your course.

Issue Log Review

Since migration is not always seamless, you will need to review and edit your content before sharing it with students. As part of the import process, Canvas identifies potential issues you may need to address.

1. Once your import is complete, return to the Import page inside your course.

2. To view the issues log, click the numbered issues link next to the "completed" box under "current jobs" on the Import page. This will display a list of items for review.

3. Review the issues and address each as necessary. Most issues will involve broken links or LTIs. For example, in the image below, Wednesday’s announcement must be relinked to the module titled Week 1. Refer to the Create Hyperlinks Tutorial to help you complete this task.

4. While the issues log indicates items in your course that may need attention, we recommend using the migration table and checklist below for a more thorough review of your content. Some issues may be difficult to locate through the log.

  • Publish assignments if necessary.

  • Check the functionality of links and attachments. (Note: Refer to the resource How Do I Create Hyperlinks in the Rich Content Editor to fix broken links.)

  • Publish quizzes if necessary.

  • Verify the migration status of existing modules.
  • Verify that links (external and internal) and files are working by clicking through modules. (Note: Refer to the resource How Do I Create Hyperlinks in the Rich Content Editor to fix broken links.)
