Brightspace (D2L) will not be accessible after June 1st. If you are using Brightspace to track the student’s work and you assign an I grade in spring 2025 the following options are available:

Preferred option: Student completes the work before June 1st

Set the deadline for completion prior to June 1st so that you can gather the student material and submit a grade change form prior to losing access to Brightspace

Preferred option for students needing to complete work after June 1st:

Student and faculty complete the coursework and grading offline.

Download the student material and current grade from Brightspace so that when the student completes the remaining requirements you have all of the material you need to assign the final grade.

Please consider the other options carefully first as this option is not straightforward this year:

This semester only, due to the transition from D2L to Canvas, moving i-grade students into a future offering in Canvas will be much more labor intensive for faculty than the above listed options. It will also require a long delay in student access to the course materials in Canvas. Faculty must contact the Canvas Team before May 13th (canvas@montana.edu) to discuss this option.

Reminder:

Please only assign an I grade if the student has completed 75% of the course material and you have set up a plan with student to complete the course material by a specified time.
