Objective

MSU Academic Technology & Outreach created the Digital Literacy Team as a paid opportunity for up to four exemplary students to gain priceless experience spending an academic year working with innovators from both MSU and Adobe.

The objective of this student team is to enhance digital literacy at MSU by sharing knowledge of the Adobe CC suite of tools with faculty and students through group training, individual interactions and acting as all-around advocates for digital media in the classroom. The Digital Literacy Team also facilitates ePortfolio efforts across campus.

Mission

The Digital Literacy Integration Team seeks to support the development of well-rounded academic experiences in all areas of study, empowering individuals within the MSU community to utilize the digital media tools at their disposal fully. Through individual support, group training and community outreach, we aim to foster a holistic form of career readiness while providing new avenues for creative expression and visual communication.

Expectations

  • Assist faculty with the integration of the Adobe digital tools into their curriculum
  • Create and maintain a personal ePortfolio
  • Provide in-class assistance for courses utilizing Adobe CC
  • Offer one-on-one consultations with faculty and students
  • Assist with development, promotion, and delivery of workshops and events
  • Create sample projects, guides, videos, etc.
  • Pursue partnerships with student groups on campus
  • Use social media to promote program initiatives and events
  • Attend team meetings and maintain weekly office hours
  • Join the Adobe Ambassadors program
  • Be an all-around advocate for digital literacy!

Payment & Perks

Eligibility

To qualify for this program, you must:

  • Be a full-time student (incoming junior or above).
  • Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Be proficient in Adobe CC tools in one or more of the following areas:
    1. Audio/video
    2. Graphics/information design
    3. Visual learning/pedagogy
  • Feel comfortable in one or more of the following professional areas:
    1. Customer service
    2. Communication and outreach
    3. Public speaking and training
    4. Creation of digital media content

The DigLit team will be hosting a drop-in information session for our open positions on Tuesday, April 2nd from 2:30 to 3:30 in Barnard 128.

An ePortfolio of work is required to demonstrate skills that will contribute to the program’s mission. The ePortfolio could include artwork, writing samples, presentations, etc. and may be delivered in PDF form or as a website (preferred).

Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year are due by April 12, 2024. After review of your application, ATO will contact you to schedule an interview if you are selected as a potential candidate.

The Fine Print

Students are required to serve up to 30 hours remotely or on campus during the summer preceding their assigned service year and 30 hours per month during their service year, excluding potential team travel.

  • Summer (Aug) = Up to 30 hours
  • Fall (Sep/Oct/Nov) = 90 hours
  • Spring (Feb/Mar/Apr) = 90 hours

ATO will provide a $500 stipend for summer hours and $500 per month served during the academic year for a total of $3,500. ATO will also cover the associated pay deductions. If ATO releases you or you voluntarily step down from your position in the program mid-month, payment will be prorated at $16.67 per hour served.

A personal laptop is highly encouraged to allow for schedule flexibility. However, ATO will supply a laptop during in-office hours if needed.
